What is a fashion Croquis?
A Croquis is a drawing of a fashion model that you trace over to design clothing. You can also call it a fashion figure or template.
Fashion croquis can be all different shapes, sizes, and styles. It all depends on the end use of your design and the demographic you are designing for. I’ve used different croquis throughout my career. Some were more stylized while others were super simple.

9 head figure
The height and width of the head is used as an index for the dimensions of the rest of the body.
In this image, you can see how the body is broken up into 9 equal sections from the top of the head to the ankle bone. The feet are excluded because they can vary in height depending on the type of shoes and heel height.
It’s helpful to use the head as a point of measure instead of an actual measurement because your paper size can vary. From a tiny piece of paper to a billboard, you can map out the size and proportions of your figure by drawing 9 heads first.

live human sketching
Sketching a five-minute pose is a lot of fun because it offers just enough time to capture a strong sense of the pose, but not enough time to overwork (or overthink) the drawing. Keeping things simple and being economical is a recurring theme throughout the five-minute process.
In class many students posed and others had to sketch them. Here are few of my sketches

In this method instead of directly sketching the human figure we started with shading the basic form of the body and then used a charcoal pencil to fill out the details.

portrait
Here we learnt to sketch the right proportion of a human face, to be specific, a model's face.

I tried sketching a portrait of a model by keeping in mind the right proportion and space.

This was my attempt to sketch model poses.
reflection
It was really fun experience to learn about fashion figures, proportions and techniques to draw. These all were my first ever attempt to draw these sketches. I need to practice more and become good at this. Over here I learnt more about human anatomy in fashion. It was really challenging for me to sketch but at the same time it was exciting. I enjoyed the whole process of this.
